Playing catch up with photos

December 29, 2013

It would appear that things are beginning to slow down around here.  Thank goodness!  Joe and I had dinner at 5:30pm last night (what?!) and completed a movie by 8pm (crazy!!).  It was a wonderfully relaxing evening that was very much needed around here.

With all the craziness of the holidays, I was unable to share everything that I wanted to share — workouts, meals, pics — so these things just started piling up.  Here is where we will play catch up.

Let’s start with the workouts because, really, that’s what this blog is truly all about:

Here are some whiteboard workouts from my Cross Training Bootcamp class:

The second one was the workout we did on Christmas Eve.  Knowing that my day way jam-packed, I ended up doing this workout with them and it was a great one!

And here are some of the circuit workouts I have been doing lately:

The last workout is the one I did yesterday after spending 30 minutes on the ARC trainer.  I completed 3, fast- paced rounds of this workout, and was dripping with sweat by the time it was done.  It has been quite a while since I have done a timed workout like this and I am thinking I am going to have to do many more.  It was fun!!

How about some food?

A combo I have been loving lately:

For many years I have tried to enjoy egg nog.  I like it in spirit and in the time of year that is accompanies, but in actually consuming it, I can handle only about a sip or two.  In the continued desire to enjoy it during the holidays, I figured I would give it a try as a creamer in my coffee.  And what to my surprise??!! It is quite a delight!

With tons of carrots taking up space in our fridge, I knew that the quickest way to use them up was to throw them in the juicer.  What a pretty color, huh?

These are some treats I gave away as gifts to my family: cinnamon sugar roasted nuts on the bottom and toffee on the top.  Joe was a little sad that I didn’t make enough toffee for us to have around the house, but it’s ok, it is super easy to make.  I will get around to it eventually.

It has been a while since we took the time to cook and eat a meal at home (those crazy holidays strike again!) so last night it was great that we were able to spend the evening at home.  Dinner last night was ham steak (so good!), asparagus, and some quinoa/rice mix.

With some left over ham steak, we cooked it up with eggs for breakfast this morning:

Joe and I received some fancy, Spice Butter Rum coffee for Christmas and decided today was the day to take her for a spin:

And here comes the randomness:

What has two thumbs and was named Trainer of the Month for the month of December?  That’s right, this chick!!

My view from the step mill one early Saturday morning…..all by myself!

More gifts in jars!  I got this idea off of Pinterest (as if there was any doubt) for a Spa in a Jar which were a gift to two very dear friends of mine.  They included bath salts, sugar scrubs, foot soaks, bath bombs, face masks, lotions, chapstick, etc.  They were really fun to throw together and were also pretty inexpensive!  Win win, I say.

Some pictures from the last few days of walks with Sadie:

This walk was particularly cold:

If you look close you can see the frost all around the edge of my jacket where my breath froze.  Sadie, however, didn’t seemed phased at all:

Notice the new collar and leash?  She’s pretty fashionable, I know.

Alright guys, that’s all I have for you.  I hope you all had a great weekend and are ready to attack the coming week!
