Today’s 5 Miler

October 29, 2013

After a series of last minute client cancellations (grrrrr!) I found myself at the gym at 5am with over an hour to kill.

What to do?

What to do?

Rather than sit there and stew, I figured I should get my workout done early so I changed into my workout clothes and completed 5 miles on the treadmill.  I didn’t want to just plod along, waiting for it to be over, so every other mile I did sprint intervals.  Here is how it went:

This was a nice change to my usual distance runs in that it kept it somewhat interesting not to mention the intervals made it all go just a little bit faster (pun quite possibly intended!)

After my run, I spent a little time with the torture device foam roller and worked out some serious kinks in my calves, IT band, and hamstrings.

I had several clients the rest of the morning as well as my Cross Training Boot Camp.  Here is what they did in class today:

I like these types of workouts because they really fatigue the muscles on the first round and allow for the building of stamina to complete the rest of the rounds.  With some extra time to spare, the class also completed one round of a quick circuit which included wall sits, BOSU planks, burpee bench hops, and traveling kettlebell swings.

Dinner tonight:

Marinated and grilled chicken breast and a boat-load of asparagus.

What can I say, I love the veggies!

Well, my eye lids aren’t going to stay up much longer.  I need to get my stuff ready for tomorrow morning — it’s going to be an early one — so this is where we say goodnight.
