A while back, Joe and I were in the midst of a conversation – the subject of which I cannot remember – and “meatless Monday’s” came up. He had never heard of them and, for the life of me, I couldn’t remember the reasoning behind this notion.
Let it be known, that I am all about the meat.
Seriously though, I am a carnivore-a-saures-rex….for reals. Meatless Monday’s have never really interested me in anyway, but doing a quick Google search I have discovered this movement (if you will) has a variety of reasoning’s behind it. From saving the planet to saving money, people across the globe are going sans meat one day a week.
Now, Joe and I are in no way committing to this notion of going without meat once a week, but we did try it out yesterday in hopes of saving a little bit of money. Joe cooked dinner last night and here is what we had:
Black Bean Burritos
The little bit of cream cheese that the recipe calls for definitely kicked up the flavor, the whole wheat tortillas seemed like a healthier choice, and the black beans ensured that this meal was packed with protein. And….man oh man, they were delicious! I think the next time that we make these, we are going to add some corn into the mix as well.
And the best part, we got four servings out of this meal for only a few dollars per serving!!
Do you remember yesterday when I mentioned that I was already feeling that lovely ache in my legs from yesterday’s Strength & Conditioning class? And how I just knew that I was going to really be hurting today? Well, I certainly nailed that one on the head. From the top of my butt to the back of my knees…..just…it just hurts.
All of it.
With all of my clients today, I had lots of getting up and down off of the ground which only reminded me, every single time, how painfully sore I am.
I knew I was going to need to go fairly easy with today’s workout — at least on the legs — so I started off with 20 minutes on the treadmill where I walked for 1 minute and ran for 1 minute. Really super easy when it comes to treadmill workouts, but I needed something that was going to go easy on the legs all the while getting the blood flowing through those tight, achy muscles.
After those 20 minutes spent on the treadmill, I completed 3 rounds of:
5 pull ups
10 Push Press
15 Ball Slams
It was a good workout, but I was really dragging the whole time. I am hoping that tomorrow’s workout will be a little more manageable.
Alrighty, Biggest Loser is over and dinner has delightfully filled my belly so that must mean it is sleepy time for me.
