A bit of a funk…..

October 10, 2013

….that would be the best way to describe how I have been feeling lately.

I’m not going to get all emo on you guys (you’re welcome) so I am just going to say that I have been struggling a little lately and I am doing my best not to get overwhelmed by it all.

That being said, my workouts have been pretty good this week.   Some notable workouts include the Strength and Conditioning class that I taught/lead on Wednesday morning where I incorporated exercise steps:

And it ended up being a really tough and really awesome workout!  I will have to revisit this type of workout again in the near future!!

Yesterday’s workout started off with 15 minutes of sprint intervals on the step mill.  I love/hate this machine but it really does leave me all sorts of sweaty and my heart pounding by the time I am done.

After the step mill I completed 5 rounds of:

5 Push Press

5 Bent Over Row

2x (down & up = 1) Stairs with Barbell

Yesterday’s workout was quick but definitely got the job done!

Today I ran 6 miles (56:51) on the treadmill and for the most part it was an enjoyable run.  I caught myself a few times checking the mileage and wishing for it to be over but by mile four, I caught my second wind and was feeling good.

I really need to remember to pack a second shirt or tank top on the days that I do long runs because, crikey, my tank top was soaked through when I was done running and I still had a circuit workout planned.

That circuit was similar to the workout that I had my Cross Training Boot Camp class do on Tuesday:

The idea here is to work until you can’t work anymore — I figured I should put a cap on the number of reps, though, or this workout was going to take all day.  Though it was a bit of a struggle, I managed to complete 50 reps of every exercise and, boy howdy, I am already feeling these legs!!!

My eating this week has been….well, not great.

There are a couple meals that are worth sharing though:

I made a beautiful roast Monday night — OK, so the crockpot did most of the work — but it turned out amazing!  The best part of the meal, though, were the potatoes.  They were cooked along with the meat and soaked up all the juicy goodness.  The green beans were another story — they had been sitting at the bottom of the freezer for a long, long time so were less than stellar.

Tonight’s dinner was something I have been dreaming about for a week now:

Joe whipped up this masterpiece complete with spinach and roma tomatoes.  I topped my eggs with some salsa making this meal all the more delicious!

Tomorrow is shaping up to be a pretty laid back day.  I have a few morning clients and then an early gymnastics practice (the kids have an in-service day at school tomorrow) so I will be done with my day by 3pm!  Joe and I have a movie date planned which I am really looking forward to.

Enjoy your Friday, pals!
