Kauai: Today’s Workout, beaches, and caves.

May 7, 2013

I woke up this morning just as the sun was rising.  I threw on my workout clothes and headed out to find my gym for the day:

Today’s gym: picnic bench, jump rope, resistance band, GymBoss Interval Timer

And here is today’s Kauai workout:

It was a little after 6:30am when I started this workout so I hope that the beeping from the timer didn’t annoy the neighbors!

For having to improvise with what I have at my disposal, this turned out to be a pretty decent workout.  I think tomorrow, as long as the weather is good in the morning, I will head out for a run.  I feel the need to sweat some more!

Breakfast — May 7, 2013

For breakfast, I had some PB toast (can’t leave home without it!), a small amount of scrambled eggs, and then some of the fresh fruit from our farmers market haul:

(not sure why the picture so hazy….)

There were quite a few things on this plate that, not only had we never seen before, we couldn’t even remember what it was called.  It was quite the adventure!

Much of the rest of the day was spent in the car, hopping form sight to sight and beach to beach.  Here are some pics from the day:

(my first attempt at an iPhone panoramic!!)

This picture is of an awesome bike/running trail that Joe and I utilized while we were here in 2011 — it was neat to be able to find it again.

Kilauea Lighthouse

This picture was taken from a look-out spot — we went the cheap route and didn’t pay the $5 to actually make our way to the lighthouse.  Still made for an excellent picture, I think.

Maniniholo Cave

This is another place that Joe and I stumbled upon back in 2011 and I wanted to make sure that we made it there on this trip.  The first pic is from the road looking into the cave and the second picture — you guessed it — is from inside the cave looking out.  From what I understand, there are times when this entire cave is full of water!!  It really is amazing to see and explore.  I can’t help but think, however, when I am exploring the dark corners of this cave that that is EXACTLY how horror movies start!!

Well, it has been a long, long day so it is time for me to turn in.  Be sure to check back for tomorrows workout and the zip lining adventure we are going on – it’s going to be awesome!
