I got legs!

November 14, 2012

When I was making up today’s circuit workout I didn’t intend for it to be a leg-punisher but that’s what it ended up being.  It was tough!

But, I have gotten ahead of myself.  Let’s start with breakfast, shall we?

Breakfast 11.13.2012

Not pictured, PB toast with chia seeds.  That’s right — everyday!

Mixed in with my oatmeal this morning was a spoon full of ground flax seed, 1/2 of a banana and applesauce!

I had some leftover applesauce from the donuts that I made for Joe’s birthday breakfast.  Now, I am a sucker for all things apple-related so I am baffled as to why I didn’t think of this sooner.  The applesauce made the oatmeal oh so smooth with just a hint of cinnamon.  It was a win!

Workout 11.13.2012

Another early morning found me at the gym — it is like a second home.  I started off with 35 minutes of sprint and incline treadmill intervals:

(I just realized I forgot to do pull ups today — what a slacker!)

After getting nice a sweaty, I dove legs-first into this circuit:

As you can see, you complete 3 rounds of each section before moving on to the next section.  I used a 40 pound barbell for the Squat & Press, a 30 pound kettle bell for the Kettlebell swings and a 20 pound medicine ball for the Oblique Twists.  This entire circuit took me 27 minutes to complete and I was all but dead when I was done.

Like I said, I didn’t plan on this being a leg killer but man oh man where they on fire from the get go.  Remind me to never do Squat & Presses and Kettlebell Swings back to back — brutal, I tell ya!

Tomorrow morning I make a stop at my chiropractor (yays!!) to get a much needed adjustment.  I am hoping to get an at-home workout done before I have to leave for that appointment.

Fingers crossed!
