Bicycles and Hot Dogs

August 10, 2012

Dinner 8/9/12

This is the text that I received last night while at work:

Let me translate for you; We will ride out bikes the roughly 5 miles to downtown Anchorage with the dog, purchase reindeer sausage hotdogs from an outdoor vendor for dinner (Down Town Dogs as well call them) and ride the 5 miles back.

This man knows me too well — exercise for us, exercise for Sadie and DTD’s!!

It was a beautiful evening in Anchorage so as soon as we were home, we geared up (Sadie included) and headed out.

We took our time getting downtown mostly because Sadie is unable to pace herself and will run until her guts fall out for the first few miles and then we have to practically drag her the rest of the way.  Here are a few pictures from one of our many pit stops:

We finally made it downtown where I ordered a reindeer dog and topped it with caramelized onions (duh), a little bit of cheese, mustard and ketchup.  Obviously this is not the healthiest dinner we have had in a while but all things in moderation, right?

nom nom nom

Someone was pouting because she didn’t get her own reindeer dog:

We finished our DTD’s and headed back home.  Check out my wicked bike riding/iPhone picture taking skills:

I know it looks like we are flying down to trail but really I was about to fall over which led to that shaky picture.

There, that’s a little better.

Our trip home took an interesting turn when we came across a moose on the trail and had to take a different, longer route home.

The three of us arrived home tired and ready for bed.

It was a great way to spend one of the last beautiful days of summer.

Thanks, Joe!
